Abstract
[AnneVanKesteren] Introduce a new REL attribute value for the LINK element. Especially useful for link weblogs.
Status
Open
Rationale
This REL attribute value, "via", enables authors to give credit to the URI (IRI) they got the information from.
Proposal
Changes section to 4.6.2:
Change "This document defines two initial values for the Registry of Link Relations:" to "This document defines three initial values for the Registry of Link Relations:".
Insert the following after paragraph 8:
"The value "via" signifies that the URI in the value of the href attribute identifies a resource that is the source of the information provided in atom:entry. atom:entry MUST contain zero or more LINK elements with a "rel" attribute value of "via". atom:head MUST NOT contain LINK elements with a "rel" attribute value of "via"."
Impacts
This proposal does not have much impact to my knowledge. There is already support for it by various aggregators and there are quite some weblogs that use it in their Atom 0.3 feed.

[JamesSnell]: I agree that this would be useful, but I don't believe it is "core". I think this could be provided as an extension using the IANA registration process for rel value registrations.
