It’s just data
Just curious, how do you know he is using an emacs-based blog tool? I use one, too, but that doesn't stop me from updating it on the road. Does he use blogmax? How is that different than Radio?

Posted by Simon Fell atAs Simon said, my excerpt above was directly lifted from the rss:description in Don's RSS feed.
My title was a reference to South Park. I found it humorous that Don would blame his absense on his beloved emacs (I'm a vi fan myself). I'm looking forward to seeing Don again next week, and saddened that Simon won't be able to make it.
Ahhh....
Re: emacs vs. vi -- This battle makes about as much sense as a "MS Word vs. vi". or "Outlook vs. vi". Emacs is a way of life, not a text editor.
My PIM (Emacs) just happens to include a powerful text editor with an integrated XML-RPC interface to my weblog.
Ok, I'm sorry, I'll stop now.
Mark - that's exactly the point. I've already got my own way of life, I don't need no uppity applica...
Oh, nevermind. ;-)
Alas, my use of emacs is nowhere near as sophisticated as Mark's. To date, I simply have a single XML file that contains my blog data, and I edit it (by prepending new records) in emacs.
After that, I'm subject to the GDN propagation machine, which is the real impediment for me. Stuff doesn't show up for hours (sometimes days if I write on the weekends).
