It’s just data
I dropped several places too. I used to be the #1 "mark" on Google, now I'm #6. Ouch.
Posted by Mark Pilgrim atWell, you did have the advantage that you weren't searching for a common verb. I'm still the number 1 "+will cox" if that's any consolation. :-)
Posted by Will Cox atMark: but you still are the #1 "pilgrim". ;-)
Will: Are you implying that Mark is an uncommon verb? While I'm sure he has been called a number of things before, this may be a new one.
I'm still the #1 "sam ruby", and shockingly, I'm still the #6 "ruby". I mean, really. *None* of the entries on the first page (or three) for "ruby" are for the gemstone.

Will will will. Google, for some reason or 'nother, seems to think that's common when you include any other words in the search. I never made it anywhere near the top 10, even with Enhanced Google Juice. I'm currently lurking at 88.

And yeah, I'd say Mark's an uncommon verb ;-)

I was amused to see people complaining - some good-naturedly, other not so - about their page rankings in Google....
