It’s just data

Thirty

On Monday, July 27th, 1981 I reported for my first day at work at the IBM Federal System Division offices in Gaithersburg Maryland.  Much has changed in those thirty years.  While I have no immediate plans to retire, I must say that it feels rather odd to be in a position where I could chose to do so at any time.

Kingston NY, 3270 peripherals group, 1 June 1981- built IBM’s answer to the IRMA card and the kernel for the 3270-PC.

As Jerry would say- What a long, strange trip it’s been. :-)

Wow, you are actually fairly geographically close to me. I’m near Frederick, and nowhere near retirement. Haha..

Ever worked on the IBM AppScan software? The NIH uses it all the time to validate our work for them.

Congratulations!

Did you get the digital or analog gold watch?

Just passed 20, although no-one noticed until I mentioned it in an email about my improved vacation time.

Lucky you and congratulations! I only wish I had the option to retire right now or the chance to take a job at an awesome company like IBM or Google etc. etc.. oh well back to the grind!
