I have the feeling you took my quote on Google Reader way out of context. To be clear, I had little to nothing to do with the HTML5 to Atom mapping. Also, with unique IDs being ignored I was referring to the global concept behind Atom IDs, not whether they add uniqueness to individual entries. You then pointed out I misunderstood the question.

Your talk made me sad.

Is there anybody left out there who care about correctness of documents just for the sake of saving other people’s time?

Don’t people realise that every time you produce non-conforming output you are wasting somebody’s life? Somebody will have to spend their time to adapt their application to your sloppiness (probably blaming and cursing you).

For a “legacy” page, the Google’s front page continues to get a lot of attention.  This week, it got a fresh look and feel.  Most of the same validation errors still remain.
