I’m sure that there is a rhyme or reason to this, but for the life of me I can’t imagine what it would be.  If anybody has any insight as to what it might be, suffice it to say that I am very curious at this point.

Stephen: Thanks!  This was a case where a simple post to my weblog was more efficient (for me at least) than a Google search for finding out information.

In your case, Sam, I expect they are interested in the number of your followers, not in you. A peek at their “follows” list seems to confirm that theory.
