AOL and OpenID
John Panzer: Every AOL/AIM user now has at least one OpenID URI, http://openid.aol.com/<sn>.
Wow. That’s a lot of people. I just tried it, and my AIM screen name worked.
Well, that’s interesting. Maybe the wild card in *.openid.net is confusing AOL’s OpenID client software?

It worked on the phpBB 2.0 branch of phpbb-openid, but not on the phpBB 3.0 one.
P.S. Nice acronym job! :-D
Posted by Dmitry Shechtman atI'm wrong. It's 63 million OpenID's.
In the last post, I stated that AOL enabled 20 million users with OpenID’s. I culled that number from a 2006 article in Information Week about AOL’s subscriber base. I was wrong. Via Sam Ruby, I see that AOL has enabled anyone with an AOL instant...Excerpt from Unit Structures at

AOL Picks Up OpenID
OpenID seems to be causing a lot of waves. AOL now supports OpenID. Every AOL/AIM user now automatically has a OpenID and Sam Ruby has already verified it. It is still not all the way I think, reading into John Panzer’s post, AOL is still...Excerpt from iface thoughts at
This is a totally not expected movement from AOL, at least not after all this. OpenID was showing to them as a solution all that time, what made them make up their mind? Logic forces itself?!

I just tried using my AIM screen name to log into the openid.net wiki, and got sent to the page some API page — openid.net still doesn’t list me as being logged on.
