Agreed. Titles in RSS are as important as subject lines in e-mails.
Agreed. See my RSS 2.0 feed. Until recently, my descriptions there were simply my content with the html removed. As of this morning (and I'm still debugging this), there is a separate excerpt.
Unfortunately, this will have to wait until XHTML gets adopted more widely.
Agreed. Some blogs even have the permalinks encoded and embedded in the description!
This is my biggest pet peeve too. The biggest problem I have seen is something called smart quotes - you may have heard of it? It's a dumb idea.

The O'Reilly Emerging Technology Conference information is now online, and it looks like one of my proposals was accepted: a tutorial on Understanding the Web Services Stack.

Actually it looks like the web site is still being populated: " our speaker list is growing daily". I note, for example, my bio is not yet there, nor is my partner in crime on this particular endeavor listed. Anyway, sounds like fun!
