It’s just data

PointCounterPoint.  Almost as bad as those election campaign ads on television.

I have to say I find it amazing that people get so worked up about these things. It is great we have now have two different development systems: Java and the .Net framework which can compete with each other and learn from each other's mistakes and sucesses. I don't particularly like Sun and their "hollier than thou" hypocracy but competition is healthy. The whole Pet Store benchmark story should be a wakeup call to Sun to undo the mistake they made when they copied and then extended the MTS model by adding entity beans. What really worries the Java crowd, I think, is that as .Net improves the logic of using Java on Windows diminishes even further.

Except that in politics, somebody eventually wins the election and we get a break from the ads for 18 months.

Yes competition is healthy and I'm all for Sun improving, but until now .NET has gotten little respect from the wide community. This needs to get out there to wake up IT decision makers and such: There is a better choice than that holy bible one way (and one language) meets all needs approach.
