Joe Friend: <title>Simple things like copy &amp; paste</title>
A month later, and this problem still isn’t fixed.
At the moment, the heuristics that the UFP applies to RSS feeds are not applied to Atom feeds. Heuristics basically means guessing, and that carries with it the chances of guessing wrong. As the various RSS specs aren’t clear about this, this is entirely unavoidable.
With Atom, the spec is clear — in fact, automatically “correcting this error” would be an error.
Given that a number of companies and products are either unwilling or unable to make simple fixes, other approaches may be in order.
Eventually someone will write an atom spec that documents current practice , and then you will be where RSS was in 2002.
