Robert Scoble: Phil Burns is totally in my camp, saying “I HATE partial text feeds,” but then goes even further than me and chides folks for not offering BOTH full and partial text feeds. Atom lets you do that explicitly
Why do people need to be in one “camp” or the other?

For entries that are longer than a few paragraphs, I prefer a summary. Bloglines gives me that choice, via Display Preferences.
I use Bloglines to present my subscriptions in a River of News view. I click with my middle mouse button on entries that catch my interest in order to open the full entry in a tab. Once I complete my initial scan, I go back and read each tab.
Other consumers may prefer full text. That’s a valid choice too.
I say, let the consumer choose.
Thanks, I was curious what “River of News” meant, so I clicked it, realized how disasterous that would be if it loaded, hit stop, and ... of course ... it had marked all my bloglines feeds as read! Oh well, I guess you saved me a few hours of time, since I was behind on reading due to the holidays. Still, I personally would appreciate if you keep in mind that at least one of your readers (me) is not the sharpest... :) If only Bloglines was RESTful.
Actually, I have trouble reading your own blog on Bloglines, with your Atom feed it ends up being rendered without spaces before or after any links. So I’ve begin reading you and a few others in Newsgator, partly for that reason and partly due to how easy it is to accidentally mark everything as read in Bloglines.
Umm, did you read what I had to say about this? Like you, I presented my case pretty clearly and drew exactly the same conclusion as you did - Let the Consumer Choose. We all read differently and have different preferences, trying to force someone to receive your product in a very specific way is always a bad idea.
As for camping, well, maybe Rob should have said I’m totally in his Tag Cloud or something. Point being he and I both dislike only being able to get partial feeds.
